Avoidance

Yes, that's what I'm doing now. Avoiding. I have a stack of papers stacked as high as the Empire State Building sitting on the table in front of me begging to be graded and I'm refusing to do it. So what if grades are due tomorrow? So what if I don't have any grades recorded yet and we're halfway through the 4th quarter? So what if I get in trouble? So what if I lose my job? So what if I have to move back to America? And have to live on the streets. And use cardboard boxes as blankets. And make friends with a guy named One-eyed Joe who lives on Slim-Jims and ginger ale. And makes me clang cymbals and dance to circus music while wearing clown makeup and a monkey tail. So what.

Fine! I'll do it! I'll grade. But I'm not happy about it. Not happy at all.

Just know that I'll be checking my email every few minutes in case something important comes along. And I'll have to look at Facebook to make sure I see if anyone's commented on newly posted pictures or my status update. And it's quite possible that I'll have to play a game or read the news just to break up the monotony of grading.

I'm going, I'm going.

But if you need to get a hold of me, feel free to text. Or email. Or Facebook...or comment here. I promise to respond as soon as my grading allows immediately.

Girl! I completely understand! I love to teach, but I hate grading. My husband can always tell when I have some major grading to do, because our house will be spotless. Somehow, I can convince myself to scrub the floors or clean the bathroom or vacuum the cushions of the couch if it means I can put off my grading for a little while longer. In fact, as I type this, there are a pile of tests in front of me...still ungraded. From last Monday, but, hey, the laundry is all done:)

So, my computer died and I was at Starbucks without my cord. That's why I wasn't able to respond immediately.

Kelley, these links just reconfirm why we're friends. It's the commonality of ridiculousness. :)

Jill, I have a test that's from before spring break...which was 3 weeks ago. Arg.

I avoid mopping the bathroom, getting my hair cut, going to the dentist, sending out Christmas cards and nearly everything else that can be thought of. I'm surprised I feed my dogs and do grocery shopping.

I just wish I had a clean house to show for all the avoiding.

In the words of Alibobby: why do tomorrow or anything other day what can be avoided today!

We had ham and scalloped potatoes for lunch yesterday. The potatoes got done! I'm so happy.

Is Alibobby a real person or did you make him up?

Mmmm...scallopped potatoes. I had a delicious casserole on Saturday and we dyed eggs. On Sunday I went to lunch at a 5 star hotel. Delish. And awesome company.
